FORMER LEAD SMELTER REMEDIATION

Park Environmental is assisting the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) of Kenya in developing a remediation strategy to investigate and remediate lead contamination caused by a former lead smelter in Mombasa. Site Investigation is slated to start in December 2022.

ASPHALT TANKER ROLLOVER REMEDIATION

Directed emergency response team, project management, field level supervision, safety supervision, and fieldwork conducted on an asphalt tanker rollover. Approximately 20,000 L of liquid asphalt was spilled down a ravine and into a creek. Initial spill response was conducted. Remedial excavations were conducted and subsequent remediation of the downstream watershed.

OIL & GAS RISK MANAGEMENT

Responsible for the annual project management of six service station sites in British Columbia. Conducted all project proposals, project planning, project communication, field level supervision, safety supervision, and fieldwork on Phase III investigations and risk management programs at contaminated service station sites. Programs included drilling, soil sampling, soil vapour sampling, groundwater monitoring, groundwater sampling, hydrogeological testing, and groundwater treatment programs.

SPILL REMEDIATION

Responsible for emergency response team supervision, project management, field level supervision, safety supervision, and fieldwork conducted on a diesel fuel tanker rollover. Initial spill response was conducted and fuel was transferred to receiving tanker. Over 6,000 liters of diesel fuel was spilled. Remedial excavations were conducted and subsequent subsurface soil and groundwater investigations were performed to develop a remediation strategy for the site.

Responsible for emergency response team supervision, project management, field level supervision, safety supervision, and fieldwork conducted on over eight hundred emergency spill responses, remediation programs, environmental construction monitoring programs, hazardous material abatement programs, and risk management (monitoring) programs at substations, generating stations, transformer locations, and district offices throughout British Columbia.

FIRST NATION PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT

Completed a large Phase II Environmental Site Assessment for a local First Nation. Soil, groundwater, drinking water, soil vapor, and hazardous building materials were investigated at twenty-two different areas of potential environmental concern. We managed and completed all aspects of the project in cooperation and consultation with the local First Nation Authority

HIGHWAYS MAINTENANCE YARD INVESTIGATION & REMEDIATION

Investigated off-site migration of hydrocarbons and metals, in multiple media, into a sensitive riparian zone. Remediation and seasonal monitoring of off-site conditions was conducted. Successfully removed the site from the list of Ministry of Environment “High Risk” sites. Duties included, project management, subcontractor organization, drilling, soil sampling, hydrogeolical testing, a desktop receptor study, groundwater sampling, groundwater remediation, soil remediation, and effective communication between the client, third parties, and regulatory bodies.
